‘Megaminds’, A DreamWorks 3D Animation comedy has retained its domination on top of the Box Office movie list. The film, which features Will Ferrel as a superhero has hit the 90-million dollar mark in its first two weeks of showing.

Megamind Still Popular

Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill are among the star-studded cast whose voices are featured in the film.

In second place, is ‘Unstoppable’ a film based on a 2001 train incident in Ohio where it traveled 66 miles without any crew, while carrying dangerous cargo. The film, which features the widely-acclaimed talent of Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, made 23.5 million dollars in its second week.

‘Due Date’, which was in second position last week, fell to third after it garnered 15.5 million. The film is a comedy from Warner Bros. and stars Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifiniakis, who get stuck together on a cross-country road trip.

‘Skyline’ which is a new release opened in fourth position with 11.7 million, closely followed by Morning Glory which earned 9.6 million dollars.

Movie analysts attribute Megaminds’ hold on number one to the fact that it is one of very few family movies currently screening in theatres.

Another reason is that it is in 3D which is a tremendous crowd-puller, especially among children. It is a refreshing alternative to all the adult movies that have been gracing theatres recently such as Paranormal Activity 3D, The Social Network, JackAss 3D, among others.
