“SKINS”: NEW TV SERIES APPROPRIATE FOR TEENS- IS IT?

The teen television series “Skins” will be aired on MTV from January. This drama series is said to be appropriate for teens and the younger generation. The preview is already out and plenty might have already seen it. Some in the last night’s finale of “Jersey Shore” while others on Skins.tv.
So, whoever is interested to watch the promo can visit this site. But they are warned to keep their kids away. This is because though there have been talks of this being made for the teens, the contents of the video gives another contradicting view. The 90 second video trailer that has been released features a naked girl and also a naked boy, overdose of drugs, guys dealing with drugs and several discussions on sex and a few extremely asserting trampoline jumping.
“Skins” is a British series created by Bryan Esley and Jamie Brittain, the father son combo of television writers for Company Pictures. It was first premiered on E4 on 25th January 2007. It has seen four seasons in the United Kingdom while two others are pending to come out.
Thus seeing the success, MTV approached the real writers to create the American version too. This will be set in Baltimore, Maryland and mostly targets the age group between 16 and 34 among the audience. Around 1.5 million viewers watched the last season. MTV is expecting this season to be a hugely successful one and would want its experimentations with scripted dramas to come good as it had in last summer’s hit drama “The Hard Times of R.J. Berger”.
