Rotary ClubAtlanta Georgia successfully won their bid to host the 2017 Rotary International Convention. It is believed that from June 10 through June 14 of 2017 more than 30,000 Rotarians will attend from around the world. They will be attending sessions at the Georgia World Congress Center. The economy in that area will be significantly increased due to this event. It is estimated that approximately 41,000 hotel rooms will be booked, most for an average of 10 days.

This is a huge benefit for the Atlanta area to celebrate. They worked hard to offer a strong proposal. As a result they were able to stand out for the rest of the competition. Many members of the Georgia Visitors Bureau worked as a team to create the proposal. They include Spurgeon Richardson and Dick Stormont. They also had the support of 12,500 Rotarians that live in the Atlanta area.

There were several other bids to host this event. They include several locations in Canada, Cleveland Ohio, and Detroit Michigan. The fact that Atlanta will be hosting the 100th year of the event makes it very special as well. They plan to make the event one that is very memorable for all that attend. Efforts are already underway to help raise the estimated $2 to get the event set up successfully.
