About 300 Romanians have been asked by the French government to leave France, claiming that they did not have the proper identity papers and hence those Roma nationals were asked to leave.

These Roma nationals were deported in two flights. One flight left from Lyon carrying 113 Roma passengers while the others left from Paris carrying 157 passengers. All these passengers received a small amount of money and that is a small financial compensation of 300 Euros or $381 per adult and 100 Euros or $127 per child.

Since the beginning of the year 2009, about 10,000 Bulgarian and Roma nationals have been asked to leave by the French government. The drive intensified in the current year when 8300 persons have been asked to leave France. French officials have said that these initiatives are simply a crackdown on the illegal immigration from their government.

There are chances of people being deported as chartered flights have been booked for September 14th and 30th for this purpose. It has been reported that during the past month alone, the French government has cracked down on 51 Roma camps as they termed them as illegal.

Romanian President Traian Basescu has said that he is keeping an eye on the developments and will definitely try to find out a solution to the French problem. These Roma people are allowed free passage to France if they are EU citizens, but they will have to find job and feed for themselves.
