He was reduced to tears because of frustration and humiliation in the middle of the airport but the worst thing is that his aunt is now dead and no one may change this situation. According with the company’s regulation his 52-inch girth would not allow the armrest to go down and separate him from the person beside him. He was frustrated because the airline did not clarify this before he boarded, avoiding the disrespectfully way of treating him on the plane. Air Transat refunded the ticket price and explained that asking the customers their measurements when they reserve a flight may be considered going against human rights. “The overweight passenger should really be offered the next flight which has a spare seat available, or be upgraded to a wider seat. This is what happens in the States and I don’t think it will be long before it happens here” said the spokesman of the National Obesity Forum, Tam Fry. Image Credit: |
