The 71-year-old Veruschka von Lehndorff, former supermodel, hit the runway on Monday in London one more time. She is still considered by many fans and pundits in the fashion industry as being the first world supermodel, being popular during the 1960s. Her modeling career and stints in the fashion industry went as far as 1975. Her premature departure was after Vogue and she had disagreed.

25 years later Veruschka returned to the runway again in the Melbourne Fashion Festival in 2000 albeit a guest appearance. However, at that time many never thought the versatile 61 year old would walk the catwalk any time again, but the events at the London Fashion Week depicted the 71 year old’s love with the runway. She was modeling for the Giles Daecon.

She was born in what was known as East Prussia, currently Kaliningrad in Russia. At the height of her career in 1961, she relocated to New York City as she quickly rose to echelons of stardom and became the country’s most famous model. With her zeal and love of the catwalk, many just hope it is not her last run.
