A soccer talent burning too brightly too young

The “American Pele” is now struggling to get into a team and play some soccer. Freddy Adu is at present
registered with the F.C Randers, that too just for training purpose. Freddy rose to prominence with the
D.C United at the age of 14, but could hold on to it for long enough. The 21 year old is now waiting for
another breakthrough.

Freddy comes from the city of Tema. His mother won a certain lottery and moved over to Maryland.
From the age of 8, Freddy was noted as a street player. When the Washington team signed him in,
banners like Nike and Pepsi went on to bestow him with riches. He became the youngest sportsman
in 100 years to be under a professional sports contract in the United States. He came to be known as
America’s imported version of Pele. He was a performer. He was as good as a spokesperson too. Though
his flaw lied in is crabbiness. He was a bit impatient with his allotted game time. However, his skill let
made people doubt his age. At the age of 18, the pro soccer man was sold to Benfica of Lisbon. The
transfer fee was $ 2 Million and he was sent off in June 2007. He did not fare well there. He sported
in just 11 games for Benfica. From there on he went to Monaco, Belenenses in Portugal and then
Greece. He landed upon Denmark at last. The young players face this hardship of trafficking even though
immigration authorities have been asked to put an end to the import and export of athletes.
