Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi & Rohan Bopanna

AISAM UL HAQ QURESHI & ROHAN BOPANNA

Rohan Bopanna of India and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan crushed their opponent to reach the US Open tennis doubles final, defeating Eduardo Schwank and Horacio Zaballos of Argentina by 7-6, 6-4. The 16th seeded pair is popularly known as Indo-Pak Express and is now to face Mike and Bob Bryan on Friday in the championship clash.

Both Bopanna and Qureshi are in fantastic form from the beginning of the tournament. The pair has been drawing a lot of media attention from different parts of the world as they are coming from neighboring countries which have a worst relation with each other for decades. It is the game of tennis which is unifying them at least for the moment. The partners are calling each other as ‘brother from another mother.’ It was an unusual scene that the ambassadors of India and Pakistan were sitting side by side to see the match.

Most of the supporters in the crowd were a mix of Indians and Pakistanis and when the pair was making winning shots, the entire crowd was clapping the players and it was difficult to differentiate in the crowd that who is an Indian and who is a Pakistani. Indians are coming forward and taking pictures and autographs of Qureshi and Pakistani’s are interested in taking the autograph of Bopanna. Their pair is a perfect combination on the court as Bopanna goes for aces and longer serves, Qureshi manages the softer ones.
