In news that would be a bitter pill to Sarah Palin, Senator Lisa Murkowski is showing a strong hold on a lead in a Senate race in Alaska, still undecided, as workers in the election are preparing to continue counting additional write-in ballots.

Murkowski Leading

By Tuesday, 8,800 ballots would have been tallied. However, on Monday, officials from the election had expressed that Murkowski was emerging strong after long days of serious counting to wield a lead of 1,706 over Joe Miller, a GOP nominee.

After losing a GOP nomination in August, Murkowski had a splendid write-in campaign. Currently, the Sarah Palin rival has votes totaling 92, 164, with write-in votes standing at 7,601, which Joe Miller camp still challenges. Miller’s votes currently stands at 90,458.

Aside from the counting of the ballots, there are 600 extra ballots from military addresses and overseas that will be submitted before the lapse of the deadline on Wednesday. Alaska is planning to begin counting them on Friday.
