Alec Baldwin was born to a Long Island family as Alexander Rae Baldwin III in the April of 1958, the oldest of his four brothers: Stephen, William and Daniel. Alec: Talented Actor, Big or Small Roles all Equal to Him All the brothers went into acting but Alec had the most glamorous career of them all. Most actors take a particular role either comedic or dramatic for both male and female. It is unimaginable Kate Winslet acting a romantic comedy, or even Seth Rogan in a dramatic act. Whenever an actor tries to switch or even cross between genres it is not well received by the audience as the actor would have anticipated. The best example is that of Daniel Day-Lewis, who was dismally received when he begun as Guido Contini in the Broadway musical Nine movie version, despite it having a all star cast, right from Penelope Cruz, Marion Cortillard, Kate Hudson to Judy Dench. It was unimaginable that the same person who had starred in There Will Be Blood, The Departed and the Last of the Mohicans as a smooth sailing, polite Italian director, would come up in sinking songs on how he lied messing up with different women. Alec Baldwin remains to be the only actor in the industry at the moment that has the ability to switch a similar role and have no problem with it. This could be due to the fact that he never did what many actors do which is sticking with the same genre, the one they are comfortable in for long and all of a sudden want to make a switch, TV-viewers are already comfortable of watching them in a certain role. A look at Alec Baldwin’s career in the 1980’s as he began then one would see an actor with varied talents. In movies like Married to the Mob and Beetle Juice he acted in comedic roles along with serious roles in movies like The Hunt For Red October and A Streetcar Named Desire, which was a satellite TV version. To add to this varying list he even narrated the kid’s most preferred Thomas the Tank Engine Series. A look at his film industry resume, it is apparent that he has done almost every kind of genre the industry has to offer. Contrary to what other actors have done over the years he never turned down a smaller role just because he had made it in the big movies. To those familiar with satellite TV they will know that one of his latest roles was to act as a smooth talking CEO, Jack Donagly opposite Tina Fey’s unliked boss Liz Lemon in the successful NBC comedy 30 Rock on the production of a Saturday Night Live style comedy show. Under this new role Alec Baldwin has won a new generation of young, satellite TV viewers, proving that he has what it takes in both comedic timing and impersonation, proven in the episode he acts out a family therapy session for Tracy Morgan’s role, Tracy Jordan. Jack Donaghy has made some of the memorable quotes in the current TV programs like “never go to a second location with a hippie.” Image Credit: |
