Apple patents location-aware iPhone laser tag

The engineers who like patent at Cupertino once again filed another bizarre and wacky trademark with the United States office’s patent department, and this time they have turned your Apple mobile to a laser tagged gun.

iPhone Laser Etch

This device can use close to every sensor in your device and that includes the GPS, gyroscope, camera, accelerometer and compass to convert your iPhone to a location-aware, peripheral that is laser tagged.

Every player should be with an iPhone that are frequently transmitting the phones location to different combatants. When you see an enemy, you put them into the view finder then tap “Fire!” which guns them down.

The idea is not only for firefights though: this patent defines racing games that are both virtual and location aware and moves your iPhone around to direct a ball around a maze.

Since playing new laser tag at the center of a city looks and sounds bad, Apple makes many patents compared to iPod revisions & it is rare to see anything come out of them.

Enjoying your smart iBike, biometric iPhone & Mac Book powered by solar, &? Think about that too.

We’ll tell if this moves further than the unusual patent application it currently is.
