Tragedy struck at the family shooting centre in Cherry Creek State Park, Denver, when two Australian sisters were shot in the head. One died on the spot and the other was left critically injured in an incident whose details are still unclear.

Investigations are yet to reveal who fired the shots and whether the same bullet hit the two sisters.
The twenty-nine year-old women are reported to have arrived at the range by taxi and had been using small caliber guns. A surveillance camera shows the women hitting the ground at the same time, indicating that they were shot simultaneously.

The injured twin was, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff, still in surgery and had not recovered enough to explain what had happened.

It is also being investigated as to how long the two had been in the US.
