![]() President Obama President Obama has visited Michigan on Friday, to celebrate the comebacks of General Motors and Chrysler Group as proof that his economic policy is working. The visit comes a year after a difficult but necessary move designed by Washington to save both companies from a bankruptcy process. Thanks to a 64-billion-dollar government bailout our auto industry has added 55,000 jobs and General Motors as well as Chrysler are not only alive but modestly profitable. On the other hand the companies are ready to launch the new Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Chevrolet Volt, hoping to consolidate their positions. As the most important investor here, Obama might be very proud with what he found. With 13.2 percent unemployment, Michigan is the second highest in US. That is the reason this state is becoming a poorer state, but the situation could be even worse here without Obama intervention. However his administration has great expectations for this year and Obama implored consumers to not bet against the American worker. He was credited by workers of both plants with saving their jobs. He said during his visit at the Chrysler plant that his first new-car purchase was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. He signed his name on the hood of a vehicle at each plant. Next week Barack Obama will travel to Chicago, visiting a Ford plant, another place where his plan saved more than 1000 jobs. Image Credit: |
