Blekko which is “slashing the web”debuted today to mixed responses from users. The new web search engine’s CEO said that Blekko’s goal was to streamline search results and limit spam. By giving the top results from about 3 billion websites deemed trustworthy by Blekko, the newest kid on the block alongside all-powerful Google and also-ran Yahoo is trying to reduce spam and clean up searches by cutting out irrelevant results. Blekko boasts of having a human touch,so that you can to refine and fine tune the search results you need, picked from billions of sites that are approved the search engine. But users are saying the slashtags used to fine tune results are way too much of a hassle and not too user-friendly. Blekko claims to be different owing to its spam-filtering slashtags but this thing is proving to be a drawback. The video tutorial for using search engine Blekko is kind of geeky and not really idiot-proof. Most likely you will have to key in” how to use Blekko” on good old Google. Slashtags have their worthy uses, but they are not for the average user who wants quick and hassle-free answers on the go. Critics are saying that despite the useful spam-filtering benefits, Blekko is meant for a niche audience and will have trouble going mainstream.
