Forensic experts from Netherlands would be testing a bone that was found in Aruba, an Island in the Caribbean, to ascertain whether it belonged to Natalee Holloway, a missing teenager from the United States, as expressed by a spokesperson.
Initially, the experts would be trying to find out if the bone is from a human being prior to testing its DNA and then making a comparison with that of the missing teenager, as Inge Oevering, a spokesperson from the Netherlands Forensic Institute said. Holloway was about 18 years of age when she disappeared during a graduation trip in High School to Aruba in the year 2005. Even after extensive searches by the police, her remains are yet to be found. In case the bone is confirmed as hers, it would the only admissible evidence that she is dead. Joran van der Sloot, Dutch, is facing in Peru different murder charges and is the last human being believed to have been with Holloway and a suspect in the teenager’s disappearance. The bone was found by a number of tourists by a beach last week, Friday. The media thought the bone was from the lower jawbone of a human but was still under analysis to determine if it came from a human being. Oevering confirmed Aruba prosecutors were the ones to announce the test results but did not say how long it would take. Image Credit: |
