BOSTON MARATHON: REGISTRATION STARTS TODAY

The Boston Marathon 2011 is scheduled to be held on 18th April, 2011. This year will mark the 115th anniversary of the event. This is the oldest marathon in the world and so, the number of people wanting to take part in this event is huge.
Registration for the event starts today. Online registration is also allowed. The participants who are interested to take part in this event will have to pay $130 as registration fees.
However, this is one race where a runner has to clear a qualifying round in order to take part in the Marathon. The qualifying times required has been released which are usually available at www.bostonmarathon.org but since registration is on its directing the user to the registration form, thus the required times can be viewed at MarathonGuide.com. The required criteria is the participant must have completed a certified marathon prior to this within the given specific time varying with age and gender like for example a 45 year female completing a marathon in four hours, then an 18 year old male will have to complete it in three hours 10 minutes. People interested to register must have the standard requirements fulfilled within 30th September, 2009.
The marathon is organised by the Boston Athletic Association (BAA). Every year around 20,000 runners participate in the event coming from all around the globe. However, this year according to AP reports this number is expected to go up to 26,800.
This annual extravaganza is one of the largest and most sought after events in the country.
