Department of Revenue in Kansas has executed a seizure of all assets including inventory belonging to American Formal Wear, although officials have promised not cause problems in planned wedding parties as a result.

All customers of the Mission bridal outfit will be picking up their items, such as bridesmaids dresses and wedding gowns placed on special orders. This comes after the revenue department had executed its 10 a.m. warrant early Monday morning, after the business had failed to honor its sales taxes payment exceeding $46,000 as per the state records.

The business is family owned, even considered as one of the formalwear dealers with the longest history of operation in the area of Kansas City. Shirley Penner, a co-owner, eludes the misery to relocation to Mission from downtown, where they were paving way for world headquarter blocks for H&R.

Bridesmaid dresses and wedding gowns shop was closed and all its business assets seized, from bank accounts, personal property, inventory to on-site funds the owners had. The process might follow the usual process of calling for public auction that will raise money to pay any delinquent tax, though officials are making special arrangements for all the shop’s customers.

Authorities are making plans for staff to be available at the shop from 12 p.m. to about seven in the evening on Thursday and Friday for items pick up. For those who might not be able to make it to the shop within the given hours the state will help.

A state’s representative confirmed that they will be making themselves “available to the customers” by customers making phones calls to give the right time they are available for the pick up.
