Fifteen years ago in Arizona statewide and locally, voters approved public transportation by funding it. Now Arizona may take a step backwards to the early 1990’s. At that time Arizona did not realize people wanted public transportation. Now with Phoenix’s downtown revitalization the rail project is a great success. The rail could benefit Arizona by adding property values and creating jobs. It would make the state more greener and more cars would be off the road. It would connect cities like Phoenix and Tempe. Tempe is leading with budget cuts of $14 million. This will be spread out over three years. The budget cuts will be decided in May. But by Sunday routes on the bus system could be eliminated.
