Most may dismiss Christmas festivities as being weeks away from now, but for the Braswell family, Christmas is just beginning. The Bonaire family, whose compound is becoming something of a tourist attraction, has just begun putting up its legendary Christmas decorations. Christmas Decorations and Festivities Already on For Some Homes The yard is graced with 200 plastic figurines while just over 50,000 lights brighten up the house, trees and garden. According to Tony Braswell, the wooden decorations were made by their ‘Grandpa Clyde’ in the 1960s and each year, the Braswells add new Christmas decorations to the ensemble. His sister, Teresa states that they try to keep alive a tradition they enjoyed as kids for their own children. Indeed her children, Tony 13 and Joshua 7 enjoy the custom and start asking about the Christmas decorations immediately after Halloween. The Braswell family consists of three generations, all living in two homes on Highway 96. They do not mind visitors coming round and admiring their not-quite-finished handiwork. Indeed this home between Highway 247 and Moody Road is gearing up for quite the festive Christmas. |
