To many it looks exactly the right thing to engage into. This include moving in with a girlfriend or boyfriend and spending some quality time and crucial moments together while on the other hand saving on money through sharing rent payments, sharing facilities such as a bathroom without the mentality to harm one another. Cohabiting not Ideal before Marriage, Study Nevertheless, a psychologist has other ideas. Stanley, a psychologist in the University of Denver says that over the last 15 years he has been studying why cases of premarital cohabitation are associated with minute levels of overall marriage satisfaction and high potentials of a divorce. In a five year study that was instituted by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, he said together some of his colleagues that about 60-70% of couples currently are bound to live in the same place prior to marriage. Just two-thirds of these respondents thought cohabiting as just another thing they just get into or something that just took place. A similar study the psychologist co-authored earlier in the year showed that about 19% of the 1,050 married respondents living together before being engaged had after marriage suggested getting a divorce, as compared to 10% of those who had waited for marriage before living together. In mid 1990s, Stanley interest was peaked after a report that showed men who had cohabited prior to marriage were less dedicated in their daily relationships more than those who never cohabited.
