Issa, R-Calif, President Barack Obama’s chief antagonist, will soon be taking charge of investigations of the White House and federal bureaucracy under the main House investigating committee depending on whether Republicans win back the House. This has elicited comments from Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota that Issa will conduct a “witch hunt” with the aim of tearing down the Obama administration, using power as chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. In July alone, Issa was hard at work giving 11 television appearances and 14 written statements over a 10 day period. Capitol Hill: Congressman to Keep an Eye on Obama Being one of the wealthiest members of Congress, the 56 year old man from San Diego is worth a minimum of $161 million for a range of assets alone. He has shown he is generous by asking staff members to identify charities to contribute to and raises money in his home district to go to military families at Camp Pendleton. He invented the Viper car security system, which warns you to stand back before sounding six altering shrill siren tones. This is where a mass amount of his personal wealth has come from. Issa is a guru at fixing technical glitches. With his computer expertise, his staff at congress avoids informing him about technical problems in event he gets too carried away and blows off scheduled meetings. Some of his clear criticism of Obama includes the president’s political appointees to a stimulus panel, the affordable mortgage program, financial bailout policies and preservation of White House records.
