Comedian Dane Cook’s half brother Darryl McCauley was sentenced to imprisonment for 6 years after he pleaded guilty on charges of stealing millions of dollars from the entertainer.

The prosecution took place by the Massachusetts attorney general’s office on Wednesday, 13th October and not by the Middlesex district attorney’s office.

According to reports, McCauley wrote a check of $3 million from Cook’s account and has been pleading guilty on several charges including embezzlement, 27 cases of larceny over $250 US each and even forgery.

McCauley had been working as Cook’s business manager since the starting of his career from the 1990s to December 2008 and forged the funds from 2004 to 2008. McCauley had previously worked as a corrections officer.

McCauley has been sentenced to up to six years of state imprisonment where he will be on probation. He has also been ordered to pay the money back to Cook. All the ownerships of his business ventures will be relinquished and properties bought with the stolen funds will be confiscated. Even after he gets released from prison McCauley will have to serve another probation period which will continue for another 10 years.

Cook and McCauley are half brothers, being sons of same mother Donna Cook, who died 4 years ago. Cook has yet not commented on the sentencing of his brother. McCauley’s wife is also awaiting prosecution and is also pleading charges. She is slated to appear in court on October 26 for a pre-trial conference.
