Last month in the U.S. 162,000 workers were hired. Unemployment rates stayed at 9.7%. This is according to a report released by the Department of Labor.
The job increases are the largest in three years. The Census Bureau contributed to 48,000 of them, but they did not hire as many as previously planned. Mostly the private sector showed the biggest increase.
The Bureau is hiring at least a million temporary workers this year. These are based on figures from March.

No One was Prepared for one of the Worst Floodings in Rhode Island’s History.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration states the Pawtuxet River, which runs through Cranston, crested at 20.79 feet Wednesday, nearly 12 feet above flood stage. Pawtuxet River is now finally falling back to where it should be. The National Weather Service stated it will remain in major flood status until about midday on Friday. The river isn’t likely to fall below flood stage until Sunday.
