Paley Festival: “Lost” producers reveal interesting details

In March 2005 it was the first time the “Lost” team was present at this festival. After five years they returned on February 27. In his speech, Carlton Cus, the executive producer, said that in May 23 we’ll see the final act of this popular production. Tiger Woods Wants To Play In June In The US Open

A spokesperson for the Golfing Association on Tuesday stated that Tiger Woods will play in the US Open in June. This comes just a few days after the star had returned to golf after a scandal.
According to a spokesperson, Mr. Woods had confirmed through email he would play Pebble Beach on June 17th-20th. Last Sunday at the US Masters, Mr. Woods tied for 4th place after a 5 month break from golf.

Organ Donor List Containing 800,000 Errors Being Investigated in Britain

On Saturday, England’s transplant authorities stated they were investigating hundreds of thousands of errors on its donor transplant list going back over the past ten years. The errors included mistakes such as donating a lung or a heart instead of a cornea or skin for example.
The Transplant and Blood center stated about 14 million people who are on a donor list had been affected by the computer errors since 1999. Even some people had organs removed without proper authorization!

Playoff Hopes Are Kept Alive by The N. Y. Rangers

On Friday, The N. Y. Rangers won a four to three victory over the Flyers. This will set up as showdown on Sunday for the Conference’s final postseason game keeping their playoff dreams alive.
N. Y.’s win puts them even at eighty-six points with the Philadelphia Flyers for eighth place and the final spot in the Eastern Division. If the Flyers win Sunday they will advance in the final Eastern Conference game.

18 People Were Killed in Thailand During Political Violence

In Bangkok today, clashes between anti-government and security forces left at least eight hundred injured and eighteen people dead. A cameraman from Japan was among those who were killed. It was the capital’s worst violence in nearly twenty years. And after campaigning for a month for new elections, it was the largest gathering of protesters. Troops fired tear gas and rubber bullets trying to crack down the chaos and protests. The demonstrators fought with grenades, guns, and gas bombs. Plane Crash in Russia Claims the Life of the Polish President

Russian officials are confirming today the Polish president was killed in a tragic plane crash. His wife, Maria, and all 132 passengers aboard the plane were also killed. The governor of Smolensk has confirmed there were no survivors, and the Polish Ministry also confirmdent was aboard the plane. The plane crashed around the Smolensk airport at 10 : 56 Russian time. Major Challenges For Ben Bernake In The Economy Healing Process

On Wednesday, Ben Bernanke the Federal Reserve Chairman stated that the biggest problems America is facing are loss of jobs and the failing housing market.
Although America has seen the worst recession in its most recent history, it seems like the country is starting to level herself out very slowly. So far the housing market shows no improvement with foreclosures everyday. On the job market, layoffs may have slowed but employers are cautiously hiring with what employers that are left.

Western Mexico is Rocked by a Major Earthquake

In Baja California today, the Mexican peninsula was rocked by an earthquake. It measured 7.2 on the Richter scale.
At least twenty million people felt the tremors all the way to the state of Nevada. It was one of the strongest quakes to hit in many years.
So far two people have been killed. While running for cover, one person was hit by a car running, and another was killed when his house collapsed on him.

America Adds Thousands of Jobs

Last month in the U.S. 162,000 workers were hired. Unemployment rates stayed at 9.7%. This is according to a report released by the Department of Labor.
The job increases are the largest in three years. The Census Bureau contributed to 48,000 of them, but they did not hire as many as previously planned. Mostly the private sector showed the biggest increase.
The Bureau is hiring at least a million temporary workers this year. These are based on figures from March.

Historic Rhode Island Flooding

No One was Prepared for one of the Worst Floodings in Rhode Island’s History.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration states the Pawtuxet River, which runs through Cranston, crested at 20.79 feet Wednesday, nearly 12 feet above flood stage. Pawtuxet River is now finally falling back to where it should be. The National Weather Service stated it will remain in major flood status until about midday on Friday. The river isn’t likely to fall below flood stage until Sunday.
