Due to the economy, owners of US sports leagues are pushing to cut salaries as early as sometime next year. The owners and players of the Major League Baseball, National Football League, and the National Basketball Association are in bargaining agreements which will be expiring next year. The Hockey League Union for the players can extend their deal beyond next season.
At a conference for sports law, the heads of NBA and NFL unions stated they were preparing players for lockouts. The owners are trying to reduce revenues shared with players. …

State of Emergency In Guatemala After the Pacaya Volcano Erupts

President Colom of Guatemala declared an emergency after the Pacaya volcano erupted killing one person and forcing the airport to close. The volcano is spewing lava and rocks near the capital. The ash is now covering 50 km of the region.
The President has issued a decree lasting 15 days or longer for the three nearest departments closet to the eruption. The eruption began on Wednesday and is continuing to build and intensify.
The person who was killed was a Guatemalan TV journalist who could not escape the eruption. Three children are …

Creation of Synthetic Cell Vatican is calling “interesting”

On Saturday, The Vatican is praising the announcement this week scientists has created the very first synthetic cell. They called it “very interesting” which eventually might help cure diseases.
They are saying that the scientists did not create life but simply replaced one of several motors to make that happen. L’Osservatore Romano the Vatican newspaper, wrote on Saturday that the high quality engineering and important research with results is not to be underestimated with manipulating matters such as this.
