Intel Corporation Is Involved In Helping Brazilian Youths To Become Qualified Digital Citizens

ChildFund International, NetHope and Intel Corporation are working together on a netbook pilot project in Brazil to develop a “Graduate Program” aimed at preparing youth in current ChildFund International programs to enter the job market as “digital citizens.” The pilot aims to streamline sponsorship processes, while also enhancing child-centered programming so children can develop and grow into productive adults. Another goal is to enable youth to enter promising job markets and to create their own jobs.

The Grandmaster Gata Kamsky is the New U.S. Chess Champion

The Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis (CCSCSL) crowned Grandmaster Gata Kamsky of New York the 2010 U.S. Chess Champion. Kamsky, who became a Grandmaster at 16, beat Yury Shulman of Chicago in a two-hour, tie-breaker playoff match, hosted at the CCSCSL on Tuesday.

Under Heavy Security the Largest Collection of Mummies Arrives in Los Angeles

The largest collection of mummies ever assembled will travel nearly 6,000 miles to make its highly anticipated arrival in Los Angeles on Friday, May 28. How the Birthrate Worldwide is Being Affected by the Economy, 9/11, and the Weather

After the attacks on 9/11, it was not only the DOW or air travel that fell. For male babies the birth rate dropped also. Scientists are stating there was a high rate of male fetuses miscarried due to the trauma of the attack. A study that is soon to be released by the BMC Public Health states they look at miscarriages instead of other factors and have concluded the 9/11 attacks is the reason for the rate decrease.

Britain’s Government Announces Reform to the Electoral System

On Tuesday, Britain’s coalition government is making plans to reform the entire electorate and cut state interference while also dealing with a record breaking budget deficit. The first coalition in 65 years, The Democrat Alliance, is also planning to invest privately in Royal Mail which is a state run distribution business. Canada’s Economy is Strong Enough to Help out Its Banks

With hardly any exposure to European financial institutions and nations, another strong quarter of performance was posted by Canada’s banks. Canada’s Imperial Bank is the fifth largest along with the Royal Bank having the largest assets. The second quarter is showing these two banks recorded profits after a year of losses.

Simulated Surgical Systems Will Improve Surgical Trainings

Surgical robotic training will be taken to the next level with the partnership of Simulated Surgical Systems (SSS) and five world renowned academic centers. Independent studies will be conducted at these centers to finalize much needed curriculum to help train future surgeons in robotic surgery. SSS will provide technical support to all five centers for studies to be completed by December 2010.

Due to the economy, owners of US sports leagues are pushing to cut salaries as early as sometime next year. The owners and players of the Major League Baseball, National Football League, and the National Basketball Association are in bargaining agreements which will be expiring next year. The Hockey League Union for the players can extend their deal beyond next season.
