This year the $1.5 million loot for the Nobel Prize in chemistry 2010, was shared out between Akira Kurosawa, sorry that’s Akira Suzuki and Ei-ichi Negishi of Japan, and American scientist Richard Heck. While Heck hails from the University of Delaware, Hokkaido University and Purdue University now has bragging rights about Nobel professors Suzuki and Negishi respectively.

No this is not the latest sex scandal to hit beleaguered golfer Tiger Woods, with a déjà vu of Monica Lewinsky’s flavoured cigar incident. Andy Warhol had said that everyone would have his 15 minutes of fame, but cigar guy at the Ryder Cup is refusing to fade away from the google trends hotness list, and ruling the roost every other hour or so.

Tornadoes hits North Arizona

Two tornadoes hit northern Arizona, derailing a train, and scything through smash homes early Wednesday. The freight train saw 28 of its cars swept off the tracts in a devastating blitz. Bellemont bore the brunt of the tornadoes, lying west of Flagstaff. Houses were crumpled like tin cans and more than a hundred evacuated people need rehabilitation, having lost their homes. Temporary shelters were being built for them.

You think whale snot and bat fellatio that figured in the spoof 2010 IgNobel is funny business? You never know, some fruity scientist may win a 1.5 million Nobel booty for it someday.

Ruling in Ohio has Allowed Hormone-Free Milk Labeling

It is obvious that some cows in the United States are treated with hormones that are genetically engineered towards increasing their milk production. The hormones in use are aptly banned in many countries across the world.
In some states in the US, they are not allowed to label milk as hormone free for those cows not yet treated with the hormone.
However, Ohio was once like these states but a court decision has overturned recently the ban. A very significant move expected to have the hormone makers firing back any time soon.

Verizon 4G Network to Be Rolled Out by End Year in 38 Cities

Verizon Wireless announced it would be availing 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) network during its CTIA conference on Wednesday. It plans to make the launch of its LTE across 38 main cities in the United States by the end of 2010.
The first roll out of the service will be covering about 110 million and to more Americans concentrating in the areas of the West Coast, and markets based in South and Northeast. In addition, the wireless company plans to launch the 4G LTE services across 60 major commercial airports as …

EPA Investigates a Huge Explosion at Magnesium Plant

A huge explosion was reported in Venice, Illinois at a magnesium plant, where unbelievably no casualties were reported.
However, EPA inspectors are carrying out investigations on the matter to ascertain whether the incident has left other residual threats the environment in the neighborhoods, or even any of the workers in the plant.
EPA’s first investigation revealed there was no visible menace or hazard, although they were just at the initial stages, as a spokesperson, Maggie Carson revealed.

FBI holds Puerto Pico Police in a Big Anti-Drugs Arrest

United States federal agents have made huge arrests of 70 plus Puerto Rican authorities on charges related to drugs. In all, 120 and more individuals faced the charges, a number that includes soldiers and prison guards.
The United States department of justice was quoted as saying that the arrests were after the worst and largest of police corruption related investigation in the entire history of the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

United States has apologized for Deadly Chopper Raid in Pakistan

NATO and United Stated have sent their apologies for their recent chopper attack, which left about two soldiers of Pakistan dead, at the border with Afghanistan.
Anne Patterson, an envoy of the United States to Pakistan expressed the apologies, with General Petraeus of NATO vowing that he will make sure no such similar incidents have taken place at any other time.
