A conviction on the murder of US government intern Chandra Levy, has been made on Ingmar Guandique, an immigrant from El Salvador, who now faces a sentence of life imprisonment.
The 2001 murder of the 24-year old woman revealed that she had been having an affair with California democrat, Gary Condit. The former congressman’s career was shred into tatters after the police indicated he was a suspect in the murder. Although the charges against him were subsequently dropped, he nevertheless left office in 2003.

A 27-year old accountant who had been found guilty of sending a menacing electronic communication is now moving to challenge the conviction in court. Paul Chambers, who had posted a message on the social network, Twitter, to the effect that he would blow apart an airport, is going to be represented by prominent human rights lawyer, Ben Emmerson.

The Commerce Department released a report on the economy that will come as good news to Americans keen on their economy. In the 3rd quarter of July to September, there was an annualized growth rate of 2.5%. This is as opposed to an estimated rate of 2%.
The growth was attributed to higher spending by American consumers, especially on items such as cars; as well as a rise in the volume of exports.

A satellite that according to reports will be used to eavesdrop on enemy communications was launched on Sunday. The spacecraft was released to orbit by the United States National Reconnaissance Office from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station via a Delta-4 heavy rocket.
The spacecraft which can put as much as 13 tons in a geostationary transfer orbit is the largest unpiloted American launch vehicle and has an antenna reflector of 18m for relaying phone and data traffic.
