Debuting at number one, Lionsgate’s Killers, murders all competition across all entertainment platforms

Killers, starring Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher, murdered the competition by taking the top spot across every type of entertainment chart. From renting the movie, to downloading it, to outright buying it, they blew everyone away. Total sales and renting was 1.2 million units sold. They were the top download on Amazon, iTunes, Xbox and Playstation rental charts. This is the second week in a row that Lionsgate has had a movie be at the number one spot along with the third time in just seven weeks. They are becoming a top dog name in entertainment with hits like Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too?, Kick-Ass, Daybreakers, and From Paris With Love. Lionsgate has the most titles for 2010 so far that has gone from box office to converting to either buying or renting it with movies grossing over $10 million domestically. They also have two block buster hits in movie theatres. The Expendables was number one for two weeks straight and has now earned $99 million just domestically. The Last Exorcism is holding in the top ten spots at $40 million since its release domestically. Killers is a romantic comedy that is very unpredictable. It has grossed $100 million worldwide with $50 million US. It also stars Tom Selleck, Rob Riggle, and Catherine O’ Hara. Robert Luketic directs the movie based on T. M. Griffin and Bob DeRosa’s screenplay. The story was written by Bob DeRosa. |
