Mobile phones are a hugely popular electronic device today. The high rate at which new models are being produced has led to the disposal of many such phones which in all appearances, are still in perfect working order. Mobile Phones: Disposal Big Issue This has led to the development of many environmental initiatives that aim to ensure these mobile phones end up recycled and disposed in a proper fashion. Nowadays, there are numerous companies and charities which take cell phones as donations or recycle them. Initially, there were no financial benefits to recycling mobile phones as the only other option was tossing them in the trash. However, it is now possible to be paid for recycling one’s mobile phone. Indeed, it is more gratifying to give the phone to charity but if it is broken, then the only option available may be to send it to a private company for recycling. Such companies reuse particular components of the mobile phone when repairing old phones and dispose of the rest in an environmentally-responsible way. As part of Corporate Social Responsibility most companies offer these recycling services for a wide range of electronics such as computers and paper and printer ink cartridges. With all these initiatives to protect the environment in place, there is no plausible reason to toss anything environmentally-unfriendly into the bin. It is also very fulfilling to take part in the conservation of the environment. Image Credit: |
