Elisa Baker, the stepmother of the hearing-impaired North Carolina girl has been arrested by the police. The investigation taking place is of homicide and the police are keeping a close watch on the accused. Elisa Baker had also been accused with charges of felony obstruction of justice. According to her she last saw Zahra 12 hours before her body was discovered and according to her Zahra was sleeping in her room which the police investigator does not believe to be true. She had also admitted of writing a ransom note that indicates of a made-up kidnapping of a stranger in the house of Zahra. Other reports from different sources indicate physical abuse and torture on Zahra by her stepmother. She got beaten and scolded for every small thing that happened. Even neighbors have reported about the hot and short temper of Elisa and how they grew suspicious of her odd behavior. Zahra was reported to be missing from her family home in Hickory, North Carolina which is about 55 miles to the north of Charlotte. Within a short time, Elisa was arrested for a dozen unrelated charges which included writing worthless and false checks, larceny communication of threats and also driving with a revoked license. Since the actual information of the date when Zahra went missing cannot be confirmed a search operation for her has been difficult till now. Also the lack of information about her has made things more difficult. |
