This is a tax free holiday weekend to save cash and energy. Stores in North Carolina will not tax items that have the blue energy star logo; this is in an effort to conserve the energy and Christmas money.

An energy efficient home cuts costs in the present and add value helps in raising its resale value in the future.

Jen Mongelli, a manager at Home Depot in Wilmington and a father of three, says that he knows the benefits in Energy Star in saving the water in washing machines and adds one does not realize it until they look at their energy electric bills.

Energy Star approved washers reduced energy costs by 30 percent and water usage by 50 percent as per the claims from the government and some manufacturers.

The tax free holiday ends on Sunday. Many retailers, Home depot included, have put up sales to go up with the tax break weekend.
