Edgerton Center for Performing Arts based in Sacred Heart University has been bringing its American Legend Series and this time round its featuring an Academy Award winner, Ernest Borgnine at 3pm, October 30, 2010. The special presentation will be in support of Sacred Heart University’s Arts Program. Ernest Borgnine was born in Hamden but educated at New Haven, and his Connecticut return is when his latest film is about to premier (Red). The film co-stars Helen Mirren, Bruce Willis, Mary Louise Parker, John Malkovich, Richard Dreyfuss and Morgan Freeman. Ernest Borgnine at 93 and Still Going Strong He will be taking the stage at Sacred Heart University to reminiscence and shed light on his long career on stage, TV and film, where the Executive Director of Edgerton Center, Jerry Goehring will host the presentation. Borgnine is also expected to participate in a session of answers and questions with the audience in the session. What has made Ernest Borgnine an all time favorite on TV and film is believable sincerity that augurs well with the audience. A tinge of Italian heritage seems to add into his performance magic with unmatched credibility, because of being so sincere. Whomever he portrays, his grave voice and un-doubtable face make audiences look at him as a very real person. At 93 years of age, Borgnine seems to be in good health at his age and has featured in many films in his old age, such as Long Ride Home in 2002, Trail of Hope Rose at 87 in 2004 winning a Wrangler Award and appearances in ER’s final episode in 2009, and got nominated for an Emmy. His early films include The Dirty Dozen, Flight of the Phoenix, The Vikings and Poseidon Adventure among others, while he has also appeared in TV shows such as Touched by an Angel, The District, Family Law and 7th Heaven.
