Facebook and Bing: Google’s Big Headache?

The Chief executive of Google Inc, Eric Schmidt does not see Facebook, the world’s favorite social Network as a threat. Rather, he points at the search engine Bing of Microsoft Corporation as the company’s biggest competitor.

In an interview, Schmidt confirmed that Bing is not doing bad and the fact that the owner of the search has the funds and many engineers than his company is one of the factors making Bing a challenge. He said that the Microsoft has, “reputation of technology innovation.”

However, the share market segment of search queries has Google at the helm, with 65 percent over a couple of months. By august Bing had about 11 percent and the combined queries for Yahoo and Bing stood at 28 percent for shares in United States searches, relatively far from what Google has.

Google: Facebook's Main Rival?

There are those in Silicon Valley who see Facebook as the key rival of Google, but the Chief Executive says both of them are currently coexisting “quite well”. In the interview, Schmidt observes that their study of Facebook impact and the way users of the social network use both web giants has proved that users of Facebook make use of Google more.

The Google Chief Executive did reveal also that Apple had an agreement with them, for search services provision to Apple Inc. The terms for the new deal are not yet given but Schmidt is confident both companies will be working closely.

This comes in the wake of Apple and Google competition, where Apple’s iPhone and Android by Google are in throttle competition. Android is enclosing into the Smartphone market.
