Passes for Comic-Con 2011 that were to go on sale Monday, 1 November are unavailable as of now, as the site crashed after a scramble to book tickets. Irate fans were venting on FB and the blogosphere after registration was closed temporarily citing technical issues. The site http://www.comic-con.org became the object of geek slurs as fans cried foul about how the portal was set up by a rookie with the source as ‘FrontPage Generated’. There were labels of “Epic Failure” galore. Tickets were hot property, given the crazy popularity of the convention in San Diego. Already the 15,000 Preview Night badges have been sold out, and fans were eager to book their share of summer entertainment. San Diego Convention Center has inked a contract deal that extends the stay of the event. For a four-day convention pass minus the preview night, adults have to shell out $105, and the going rate for a kid outing is $52. Ticket sales had to be rescheduled after the servers crumbled under the flood of fan visits. Now you know it is not just supermodel Kate Moss’ stripping act that can cause a server to buckle under a flurry of user activity. The Comic-Con convention at the San Diego center pulls in a crowd of 130,000, and in 2010 the event is to held this summer on July 21-24. An apology on the Comic-Con site assured fans that just” a handful of badges”actually sold when the site opened for bookings and pleaded for patience. Image Credit: |
