Portland DawnChris Dudley defeated Allen Alley and will represent the Republican Party, facing in the fall the former Democratic Governor John Kitzhaber. The Democrat Ted Kulongoski will have to leave the function after two terms.

In this moment Chris Dudley has 47 percent and John Kitzhaber only 40 percent of the votes according to a survey done in June 9 of 566 voters by SurveyUSA. The Republicans fight to end a long failure tradition of losing 6 elections in a row, but the Democrats questioned several aspects of the poll.

It is an encouraging result for Dudley’s team, with a great chance to win, but they know that the competition will be very difficult.

On the other side Derek Humphrey observed that only 35 % of participants revealed themselves as Republicans and 38 % were Democrats and this is a reason why they can’t trust in the accuracy of the survey. However it look like they are not surprised to have a close competition with a strong opponent. Dudley won more votes outside the Portland region. He also leads among men and voters over 50.
