The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels was host to a gathering of red-clad mourners who came to pay their last respects to Dino De Laurentis. The family of the acclaimed producer requested guests to wear red since De Laurentis had never wanted his funeral to be graced by a mass of black and that was his color.

Among the guests who eulogized De Laurentis and shared tales about him were Arnold Schwarzenegger, David Lynch and Baz Luhrmann. Schwarzenegger who attended the funeral alongside his wife, Maria Shriver has worked on 4 movies with the Italian-born producer who died at the age of 91.

He described him as a courageous man who never feared failure, citing his admiration for De Laurentis’ brains, courage and heart. Lynch, who shot two movies with De Laurentis, praised his hard work and big dreams while Luhrmann crediting the producer for teaching him how to have fun.

The 90-minute service also saw his two daughters; Carolyna and Dina eulogize their father, terming him a ‘force of life’ and ‘a master of Italian Guilt’. Giada De Laurentis, from the Food Network, who is the family man’s granddaughter, read a passage at the service.

A summation by David Lynch termed Dino Laurentis as many things, among them a dreamer and a man filled with the love of life.
