Ganoderma Lucidum may have a role in improving the immune system and combating cancer-cell proliferation according to a new study developed by College of Natural Resources, North Carolina State University and Kyushu University from Japan.

Ganoderma it was not a very familiar herb for the Western society, but the traditional Chinese medicine is commonly referred to as the “The King of Herbs”. Growing on high mountains and inaccessible places, it was forbade for the common people. Under penalty of death, Ganoderma Lucidum was once available only to the kings and wealthy classes which discovered its benefits.

Also called the Reishi Mushroom or Ling Zhi, it is becoming one of the most popular medicinal mushrooms in United States after the scientists identified over 200 active elements inside of this herb. Containing organic germanium (GE-132) at a high concentration, polysaccharide or multiple vitamins and minerals, it may be effective in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes, cleaning also the body by eliminating toxins and impurities.

The scientists that was interested in finding new cancer treatments found that the degree of cancer inhibition of Ganoderma in not very high. It may be around of 50%, but it is already excellent for a herbal solution. However it stimulates the activity of other immune cells which can destroy even more cancer cells.

On the market it is available like Ganoderma extract supplements, but in the last years more companies combined this herb with coffee, producing first coffee with the health enhancing qualities of Ganoderma, which is presented like the first healthy coffee.
