Google voice integrated with Gmail

GOOGLE VOICE

A new feature named Google Voice was integrated with Gmail, like a combination of voice and video chat and it is available at present only with the Google account holders in USA and Canada. They will be able to dial any number from their email accounts and speak with the help of a headphone mike. Though the usage has been kept limited to the US and Canada users, Google have stated that it will roll out the international edition of the feature in the near future.

If a Gmail account possessor wants to have Google Voice integrated, that person will have to download and install Voice and Video plug-in. The users in US can call their contacts in UK, France, Japan, China, Germany and France at a very nominal rate of $0.06/minute, but calls made within USA and Canada will be free at least for the first year. Another interesting point is that users of this feature will be able to receive phone calls directly in their Gmail inbox through Google Voice number.

This wonderful feature may be made available to the devices of Apple which are using the HTML5 based web interface of Gmail. This has already sparked of a clash between Google and Apple and it is expected that the Android phones will be the first to get the privilege of having this service.
