A provider of business process services and information technology, CGI Group Inc. will continue their work to help people that became victims due to the BP oil spill in the Gulf Coast region. They will do this by donations and the company will match the contribution along with ongoing volunteer work.

Three non profit organizations have joined CGI in the gulf oil spill recovery efforts. The Baton Rouge Area Foundation, National Wildlife Federation and Bay Area Food Bank.

In Troy, Alabama, the CGI’s office has organized days the employees can volunteer along with members of the community in Troy. The volunteers traveled up and down the coast handing out food to people who were affected by the oil spill, loosing their jobs and other circumstances.

The last three months, over 30,000 pounds of food has been given to six hundred and fifty families locally. In La Batre and Coden, Alabama, volunteers from CGI joined with Bay Area Food Bank to distribute the food. So far, over $45,000 has been given to the three organizations from employee and company donations.
