Medvedev and ObamaPresident Obama invited Russian president Dmitry Medvedev to a surprise American lunch Thursday before returning to the White House for a news conference. Escaping from the formality of summit at the White House, they traveled by motorcade to the Washington suburb of Arlington, Virginia to Ray’s Hell Burger, a favorite place of the president. Last year he ate there with Vice President Joe Biden.

The Presidents were seen sitting together scrunched in at the tiny table in shirtsleeves, sharing a conversation through their interpreters, while everyone’s eyes were peeled on the two. President Obama ate a cheeseburger with cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato and pickles. President Medvedev passed up lettuce and pickles for jalapenos and mushrooms. Finally the pair split an order of French fries and Obama drank iced tea while Medvedev opted for a Coke. No word on which one paid for the meal.

Medvedev, who got on Twitter Wednesday, for joining joined social networking platform Twitter , tweeted about this great lunch: “Haven’t had a burger in a while. Lunch with Obama at Ray’s Hell Burger”. He also shared some pictures there. Medvedev is in the US for face to face meetings with Obama before the two will attend the G20 summit in Canada.
