Democratic candidates all over the country are heading into the final lapse of the midterm campaign at a time when unemployment rate hovers just under 10%. This morning, the federal government, for the first time prior to voter’s attendance to the polls, will set the Final economic pitch to an all-time high when he reports on the monthly number of jobs lost or gained. Either way, many economists don’t expect any significant change in today’s unemployment rate, which stands at 9.6%. Plouffe:Time for Democrats to Hold the Anger on the Economy by the Horns So, how are the democratic candidates offering a final economic pitch? David Plouffe, the manager of the President Obama’s 2008 campaign and his top political advisor, told the media on Thursday that Democratic Party’s candidates ought to confront anger emanating from the economic crisis head on, and then put the blame on Republicans. Mr. Plouffe repeated the remarks that have been made repeatedly by Mr. Obama – that recovery is going too slowly for anyone to feel comforted by it. Meanwhile, he said that in the election’s final weeks, Democratic candidates ought to quickly leverage on the responsibility that is borne by Republicans for authoring an economic crisis. Republicans scoff at this argument, saying that they are convinced all voters have adopted the Republican’s Final economic pitch and they will reject the Democrats’ argument at the polls. They note, for instance, that the country’s unemployment rate stood at 7.6% on the day Mr. Obama entered office. They also point out that Democrats have controlled the Congress since January 2007. As the debate rages on, surveys suggest that the Republican case has already made headway with majority of the American public. Image Credit: |
