Illinois Governor Quinn wins full term

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn won against his GOP opponent by a whisker, narrowly holding on to a full term. Quinn was among the select few Democratic governors who avoided the Republican rout .

As ballot counts continued to trickle in, it became apparent that opponent Bloomington senator Bill Brady would not manage to tide over the lead Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has opened up.

This will build pressure on his Republican counterpart to concede defeat. Quinn addressed voters from Chicago with warm thanks and termed the victory margin he had as ‘insurmountable’. But the Brady camp is set for the long haul and not giving up with a never say die spirit.

The Brady side said from state capital Springfield that it is counting on the absentee, provisional and military votes to brighten it up for them, but it looks like a losing battle. The people of Illinois though know more or less that all the data-gathering notwithstanding ,Pat Quinn is set for a full term in office.

As the decision-making process nears an end, State officials still have a timeline until December 3 for a final certification of all the results. But it seems to a formality for the victorious Pat Quinn side.

Spokeswoman for Republican Bill Brady did acknowledge that while they were yet the concede, the uncounted votes might not radically weigh in favorably for the GOP side.

Brady earlier eked out a close victory with less than 200 votes in February but it looks loke a tough call this time around.
