Jeff Goldblum is leaving Law & Order: Criminal Intent according to his representatives. After being with the TV show for two seasons, he will leave due to the uncertainty surrounding the show’s future, which might not stick around for too much longer, but he is leaving the program on good terms.

The 57-year-old actor entered the show filling a role that was left void when Chris Noth went out the program. He replaced then Noth’s role of Detective Mike Logan with Detective Zach Nichols on the US drama. Jeff Goldblum’s contract is up, but he opted to renounce instead of renegotiate, according to Variety.

Many people started to comment and suggest a possible substitute for Jeff Goldblum, but the creator of the show, Dick Wolf did not confirmed that the actor is choosing to leave now, after Criminal Intent just finished its 9th season in July. On the other hand the ratings for last season went down and it’s not clear at this point if the show will come back.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent is a police TV drama series focuses on New York City’s war on crime, offering a fictionalized version of the NYPD. The worst criminals are pursued in this show by the detectives of the Major Case Squad and Jeff Goldblum had an important secondary role in the last two seasons.
