Jennifer Mee, a 19 year old girl from Florida had grabbed the headlines for nonstop hiccupping for five weeks at a stretch. She has confessed to murdering a man while attempting a robbery which unfortunately went wrong taking the life on a man in the process.
Mee along with two others, 20 year old Laron Raiford and 22 year old Lamont Newton was arrested on charges of murdering a 22 year old man named Shannon Griffin in St. Petersburg, FLA.
The victim was lured to a St. Petersburg home by the trio where he was held at gun point with a calibre revolver, as reported by the police. During this time, Griffin tried to flee and struggled with his attackers and in the process was shot which led to his death. The victim was subjected to several shots to the upper part of his body.
A statement released by the police said, all three have admitted their sins and have been charged with first degree murder.
First degree murder faces the possibility of a death penalty in Florida.
Mee came into the headlines after being mildly famous when she appeared on “Today” in 2007 because of a chronic disease which led her to hiccup continuously. Sometimes, it was seen she had hiccupped around 50 times a minute. This led her to be known as the “Hiccup Girl” and became the talking point of many conversations as to the cause of this phenomenon. Later, the hiccups were reported to have stopped abruptly almost the same way they had started.
