The gubernatorial debate in New York on Monday night can be termed as spectacular and hilarious and it was all due to “The Rent is 2 Damn High party” candidate Jimmy McMillan. This man wearing black gloves and having an unusual moustache beard combo with an odd voice had viewers taking interest in the guy. Till Monday, Carl Paladino and Andrew Cuomo have been grabbing the most eyeballs in the race, but last night a much unknown Jimmy McMillan had eyebrows raised of all the rest four candidates- Kristin Davis of the Anti-Prohibition party, Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s supposed madam, former Black Panther and member of the city council Charles Brown, Warren Redlich of the Libertarian Party and Green Partier Howie Hawkins.
Jimmy McMillan, the 64 year old retired postal worker and a veteran of the Vietnam was called an anti-Semite after he blamed the rent problems on the Jews. Yesterday night Jimmy was more in the mood to joke terming a multi billion deficit problem of the state as a cancer which will heal itself. Also speaking on gay marriage, he proved to have a good sense of humour on a topic which had for long haunted Paladino. He gave an explanation for his choice of black gloves saying that is because of Agent Orange which he had endured in Vietnam.
However, critics classified this debate as embarrassing and wanted the two most serious candidates to face each other in a one on one showdown.
