Joe McElderry, who was the winner of The X Factor last year, followed superstar Usher on the stage with a performance that held its own on the 2010 results show. The 19 year old teen heartthrob who won over fans last year, did not disappoint with a performance of the single titled Ambitions from Wide Awake, his worldwide debut album which is slated for an October 25 release.
The ITV show had Joe showing off his falsetto, but fans were cribbing on Twitter that he was not live during the entire sing, doing a Britney mime act for the chorus and parts of the song. The series saw its TRPs soaring for sure, with a glitzy routine and staging. Joe McElderry won applause all over for the well-choreographed act
With over 10 million viewers glued to the TV, Joe McElderry admitted he felf jittery about his performance, and said he did not want a Leon Jackson performance gaffe. He went on about the attack of the nerves saying he had panic moments in nightmares where the stage was covered in slime and he slipped and tottered trying to stand straight.
Joe McElderry pipped runner up Olly Murs and Stacey Solomon to the post to clinch victory last year. Mime act or not, gushing girls would not mind. Spoiler alert, unlike Olly Murs who stripped for Heat mag to celebrate a chart-topping single, Joe McElderry has vowed not to follow suit, as he is not into Enrique Iglesias tactics.
