The Rally to Restore Sanity seems to have beat Glenn Beck ’s Restoring Honor rally in terms of attendance. While numbers were being thrown around, Comedy Central duo Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert pulled in a massive crown in a pre-Halloween mood, and they sure did not disappoint with their insane antics and unconventional take on politics and religion.

Estimates of number count apart, this year’s acts by Father Guido Sarducci ,Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Sam Waterston had people in splits. The comedian duo of Stewart and Colbert were unstoppable in their acts, be it their self-written rhymes or drawing upon the triumph over fear in the Chilean miner rescue act.

CBS news said that Sanity rally’s drew over 200,000 people with a majority of them part of a youthful irreverent brigade, while Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor rally could muster half that number. But sources say numbers had swelled in the Glenn Beck gang later in the day.

While many disagree with Glenn Beck views, the message of his rally is meant to be inspirational. The Saturday Oct. 30, 2010 gig headed by Jon Stewart was a non-political stand against religious intolerance, done in a refreshing papa don’t preach avatar. Given the entertainment acts in the Rally to Restore Sanity rally featuring Yusuf Islam ,Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Bennett ,John Legend, Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow, it was no wonder that the attendance battle of the rallies tipped in favour of the hilarious satire offered up by the Jon Stewart brigade.
