King County Metro

The King County Metro or the metro as it is usually referred to, is a source of public transport and
makes travelling easy for commuters. It is a bus service which has a very intricately woven network
across the nation. It started operating in the year 1973 in Washington but its origin dates back to
1939 when it was founded in Seattle.

With the commencement of the winter months the metro will run on snow routes whenever there
will a heavy fall. The routes in Seattle have already started facing problems and commuters are
delayed. Snow plowing starts only after 8 am and till the time traffic is at a standstill if there is too
much snow fall. Some of the routes of the metro service have been temporarily held due to weather
conditions and an alternative route is provided to its passengers. To avoid any accidents all buses are
chained since all buses are moving on snow routes.

The buses are not running on the stipulated schedule because contradictory weather conditions
have forcibly made the authorities to decide on alternative route. With deteriorating weather
conditions the metro services could have proved very beneficial for commuters had they run as per
roaster.

Every bus is equipped with a device which helps record its route to the main server. However the
tracker does not enable to help reach information when the route is altered. This leads us to judge
that the tracking system needs to be improved as a large number of passengers are often stranded
in the cold unable to track the altered routes and times.
