Stephen Cowan, a 67-year old man from rural Wisconsin shot his TV and then pointed the shotgun at his wife after being enraged by Bristol Palin’s performance in the TV show, ‘Dancing with the Stars’.

The incident led to a stand-off with a SWAT team the whole night after which he was arrested and charged in court for second-degree reckless endangerment.

According to Cowan’s wife, Janice Cowan, her husband had come from the bar on Monday evening and was having dinner when they started to watch the TV show. When Bristol Palin, Sarah Palin’s daughter began her performance, Cowan started cursing and eventually blasted off his television in a maddening fury.

His anger was due to the fact that a politician’s daughter was being allowed to appear in the show despite her utter lack of talent. He then pointed the gun at his wife and ordered her to go fetch his pistols. She managed to run away and contact their attorney who called police.

The man apparently suffers from a bipolar disorder and has previously threatened his wife with a machete. He is also alleged to be under stress as a result of financial difficulties and a doctor helping him has recommended he hands over his property to the family’s attorney for a short period of time.

Cowan’s attorney, Jonas Bednarek, was unwilling to give any comments at the hearing.
